| Historical Background
Christian Mission Fellowship (CMF) headquarters is located at Sinza area in the city of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The church Ministry was started in 1995, which formerly was known as VICTORY CHRISTIAN ASSEMBLIES, a local the founder being Bishop Mgullu Kilimba. Up to now there are almost 60 churches in Tanzania as branches whereby Bishop Mgullu Kilimba is the National Overseer of the branches each church is under a pastor. Bishop Mgullu is the Pastor of the headquarter church with the total number of 150 members for Dar es Salaam alone. This is a growing church currently faced with great opposition from Muslim. The pace of church growth in CMF churches is still slow, however we are putting more efforts by grace of God to speed church growth. In 2003 a Bible training Center was started for the Church Planters who after the Training would be sent to unreached areas. Right now there are about ten church planters sent by the college so far. The training program is always undertaken at CMF church headquarters, but towards the end of 2007 a new Bible College will be inaugurated after the completion of construction. In 2004 a strategic decision was taken to change Victory Christian Assemblies to a new of CHRISTIAN MISSION FELLOWSHIP, the main reason behind the change was to focus more on Mission. Every CMF church around the country conducts its services according to their own programs. But mostly often Sundays, Wednesday, Saturday members meet either for worship or Bible studies. But most churches have weekly prayer days where they meet for prayer meetings. There are also several church ministries, which meet on specific days like women ministry, youth ministry, etc. CMF also has cell churches where believers in their local places meet on specific days for bible studies and worship. Cell groups play an important part in making stronger fellowship and follow-ups and growth. Counseling is also a ministry that is being done frequently by pastors of the churches and leaders. Here the goal is to attend to spiritual and other problems the believers of CMF and other people face, to give advice and solutions in Biblical ways to spiritual problems, and non-Biblical solutions to problems that are not spiritual. Counseling plays a vital part in building up the body of Christ, as believers face opposition from many areas in life. Also with CMF ministers there are missionaries from Fiji and Papua New Guinea who are working together with CMF in church planting and training. Since their arrival they have been a blessing to CMF. These missionaries were sent by the ministry of Christian Mission Fellowship of Fiji under its president servant of God Kurulo Sulius to come and work with CMF (Tanzania). Reasons which lead to the established of this Church To give priority to reach the unreached areas through evangelism and teaching, we have a total number of 160 indigenous ethnic groups, speaking more than 31 languages but Tanzania is privileged to have a common language which nearly every Tanzanian can understand i.e. SWAHILI language. It is widely used in both urban and rural areas. |
